artimeltlasermarkable is labeled using modern laser technology. The technology makes use of the fact that a laser beam directed onto the surface of a material can alter it – in this case by changing the color – without making physical contact. The intensity, the pulse duration of the laser beam and the speed, depending on the complexity of the shape to be lasered (line, text, graphic, image), are adjusted to achieve precisely the desired effect on the hot-melt adhesive.
This innovative technology makes it possible to label series or unique items “on the fly”, without compromising on quality. Laser marking offers the utmost precision and repeatability. The real highlight is that artimeltlasermarkable can be combined with various other security elements to ensure even more comprehensive protection for your products.
The following two image sequences show a logo and a barcode lasered into the adhesive in the first image. The second image shows the two films pulled apart as an example of an opened closure and the third image shows the attempt to glue the two films back together as precisely as possible, as an example of the attempt to reseal the closure. It is clear that an opened closure cannot be closed again without being noticed.
Traditional laminate vs. linerless
artimeltlasermarkable is based on classic hot-melt adhesive formulas: Tried and tested hot-melt bases are supplemented with a special additive that enables laser inscription or marking. There are two versions available: The labeling can be lasered directly onto the hot-melt adhesive itself or through a transparent, heat-resistant substrate. This opens up a wide range of potential applications. Besides numbers, letters, or barcodes, customers can apply practically any two-dimensional shape, so logos or decorative elements can also be lasered on.
